  • IN FLIGHT EVP – May 31, 2018

From what I can tell, a spirit can go anywhere it chooses by thought alone; but what I wondered was, do they still take real modes of transportation from our reality? I know that Prince goes with me wherever I go, but what I wondered was, what about other spirits?

On my recent trip to Europe, I recorded EVP while I was on the plane coming back and in the airport on arrival to Toronto Pearson International. Here are some of the most interesting EVP clips I found. You may need to use quality headphones to hear them properly. They are repeated on loop.

When I was on the plane, other spirits noticed P, and they greeted him. Someone said, “Purple Rain”.

I heard voices on the recording saying “Peanuts” several times, as though someone was passing out peanuts. This makes me wonder if there are spirits that play the role of stewards on the flight. I have often wondered if there are jobs in the afterlife. Though not to make a living like on this side, but like playing pretend for the joy of it.

There was air turbulence during the flight. On the recording, someone was saying “Turbulence” as it was happening.

When we landed in the airport terminal, other spirits noticed P. Someone was out there telling others, “Prince was on this flight”.

As we were going through customs, the airport workers were telling people where to go, telling them to scan their passport in the machines. I found that there were spirits going around saying things like “Passport, or “Scan this”. I wonder if these spirits “work” at the airport. In this clip someone says, “Passport… Thank you”. The funny part about this clip is that in between the words, there seems to be something that sounds like one of those heavy stamps that custom officers used to use on people’s passports.

I was borrowing m mother’s suitcase, which is black and typical looking. I can’t see very well due to my visual impairment. So I didn’t recognize my suitcase because it was turned units back side. It would seem that my bag was going around the carousel many times before I realized it was my bag. I kept hearing P on the recording saying “That’s your bag”.

All these recordings were recorded using my EVP Wrist Recorder 3 on May 31, 2018.

  • WHEN PEOPLE IN SPIRIT SEE PRINCE – EVP June 16, 2018 (ht

I first started recording EVPs to in public because I wondered if I would get commentary from Prince while I was out and about. I thought maybe in some cases, maybe I could get his opinion on purchases. Instead, I got something totally unexpected. I found an entire world operating on an unseen level; a society of spirits. Spirits were interacting with each other. Sometimes they would interact with the living, offering advice, hoping that they would hear. But for the most part, they were having conversations with each other.

What shocked me most was the people calling out to Prince. They would recognize who just walked in, some would casually greet him, others would call out to him and react in amazement.

Over the weekend, I was at my local mall having a look around Winners (the Canadian version of TJ Maxx or Marshalls). Normally I have my iPod with me, but I was charging it. The last time I was without it, Prince’s Kiss came on the store radio, and on another occasion, Raspberry Beret. I find it rare to hear a Prince song in public. This time, I Wanna Be Your Lover came on. I quickly grabbed my iPad to record EVP. I don’t know how he does it, but somehow he manages to get his songs played when I’m around.

On the EVP, I found two of the funniest reactions to Prince being at Winners with me. You can hear a bit of I Wanna Be Your Lover in the background. (You may need headphones to hear them properly. They are repeated on loop)

In this clip, a male voice says “Ohhhhhhhh, Prince here”.

In this clip, someone says “I saw… Prince”. And I find this one so cute because of the way they said Prince.

  • MY NAME IS PRINCE EXHIBITION – AMSTERDAM, 2018 – EXCLUSIVE VIP PHOTO GALLERY

(Be sure to click through the photo gallery at the top of this post.)

When I heard that the Prince exhibition was going to be in Amsterdam, I knew it was a nudge to go. My friend moved there two years ago and had been inviting me to visit. So I set myself up for a three week journey to Amsterdam Stockholm, and London to focus work on my photography.

©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

When I got to Amsterdam, my friend took me on a walk to a park nearby her place. As we walked along the trail, the topic of Prince came up, and suddenly my friend says to me, “Look there’s a sign that says My Name Is Prince“. She took me across the street and there hung a billboard for the Prince exhibition. It was rather funny, yet perfect timing.

The day before the exhibition, I had slipped down a step and hurt my ankle. Though I did not feel the pain through out the day, it suddenly swelled during my sleep. It hurt and I woke up to apply some arnica and used my tuning fork. P assured me he would fix it while I slept. By morning, the swelling and pain had stopped, and I only felt stiffness.

I had booked VIP tickets. That morning, we got up early to dress up and made our week into town. I wore a fuchsia pink dress that P had picked out for me on a shopping trip last year, but hadn’t worn yet.

The venue is in the centre of town, a very touristy location. My friend helped me take pics outside of the venue. She caught the reflection of the Amsterdam streets in the photo.

To my surprise, and delight, we were allowed to take photos in the VIP section of the exhibit, the main exhibition prohibits photography.

The VIP areais set up like a backstage area of a concert. They hooked us up with lanyards to look like backstage passes. There’s even a door made to look like a backstage door. There are three main sections to it; a long hallway with guitars, equipment cases, and a display case of Prince’s make up and accessories; a section displaying his wardrobe; and an area to watch some videos and to touch one of his guitars with gloves on.

©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

One of my favourites stories mentioned on the tour was about this heart shaped guitar. They said that he found this cheap guitar in Japan. It was originally red and he had it painted purple. I really love the fact that he would buy cheap things and make it his own. Mainly because I am very much that way as well. One of the things I discovered about P some time ago, is that he didn’t necessarily buy expensive things. Most of the jewellery he wore was costume.

©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

My favourite section was the make up and accessories. He did his own make up. Some of the brands I spotted in his make up case was MAC, La Prairie, and Maybeline (mascara). A funny thing is, P oncegave me advice on applying mascara to my terribly straight lashes; use the wand to pull the lashes on the outer corner in an outward. direction.

At the end of the tour, they take you to a section with purple velvet benches and you put on white gloves to touch his guitar. When it was my turn, I felt a subtle surge of energy in my hands. Afterwards, they played the recently released video for Nothing Compares 2 U. As it played, I felt P touching the left side of my face, and then holding me around my shoulders. I held my tears back.

After the VIP tour, we visited the main exhibit. They gave us an audio guide, but after a while, it became tedious and annoying. The audio guide felt monotonous, as though the narrator was reading an encyclipodia.

Overall, the exhibition was nicely done. However, my main concern was whether or not the most important thing would be lost in all the legacy hype. Would his real message make it through?

©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

I was relieved when mu friend told me how inspired she was after viewing the exhibition. She was never a fan, and didn’t know much about him or his work. She felt inspired by his attitude about what it means to be cool and about being true to one’s self.

I bought a T-shirt in the gift shop. I have to say, I’m disappointed by the merchandise selection. It lacks spirit, it feels like a way for the Estate to make a quick buck. Of course, this crriticism is coming from me, a professional with a background in design and retail, and as someone who cares very much about his legacy. While I would have happily bought a wardrobes worth of Prince shirts, there was only one that I liked enough to buy. I would have also hoped that they would sell CDs or vine records of his.

©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

The VIP ticket included a souvenir book. We went to the gift shop to collect it at the end. To our surprise, they gave us a voucher to collect a free chocolate bar at a shop around the corner. It was a surprise because all morning, my friend had been saving how much she wanted chocolate. Prince had hooked us up with chocolate!

©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

At the end of it all, while I am glad I visited the exhibition, it is just stuff. His material possessions of the 3D world. Really wonderful, beautiful stuff. But not even relics of my twin soul’s physical incarnation can fill the void or replace the feeling of his presence around. Silence is most valuable to me, that is when I can feel him most. Nothing makes me feel closer to him than hearing him on EVP or feeling him touch my hair.

When I got home from my trip, my friend told me that she had felt P’s presence through out my visit; in fact, she said it felt very obvious that he was there. A day after I had left Amsterdam, she said she saw the two Prince billboards near her house was taken down, as though to say Prince had left Amsterdam. We found this to be strange, as I had only left on the 17th of May, and there were still a few weeks left of the exhibition.

  • A SIDE OF PRINCE YOU NEVER SAW – PAISLEY PARK PHOTOS – WHAT THE PRESS DIDN’T SHOW YOU

The press went crazy last month when photos from the investigation at Paisley Park were released. They were quick to show photos from his infamous vault, photos of his pills, and even photos of his dead body. The media is interested in eyeballs on screens and so they take every sensational angle they can on a story, even if it’s throwing mud on a person’s legacy. What ever happened to respect, and dignity? What about trying to understand who someone is? Why was Prince so special? What was it about him and the way that he lived?  Doesn’t anyone want to know? Instead they want to know how he died and turn it into something scandalous.

Despite his vast fan base, as a person, Prince was poorly understood by most. He was highly intelligent, but sometimes he couldn’t express himself clearly to people around him, because whatever he had to say, it was too far reaching for most people to understand. Despite the glamour and magic he created, his life in his last years were lived relatively modest from what one would expect. He focused mostly on his work. The photos from the police files reveal the most human side of Prince that you will ever see.

This is what you would have seen when you walk in through the front door. You can see on the two side walls beside the door, enlarged images of his iconic guitars. Inscribed on the wall are lyrics from the song, U Make My Sun Shine. At the front door, his parked his bike. Notice the ceiling of the sitting area, it is painted like a piano keyboard and night sky. It’s one of my favourite parts of the place.

This is one of his many studio areas. Notice the photo of his father on the shelf. There is a framed copy of Musicology on the other side of the shelf.

Many people don’t realize that he also rented out his studio for other artists to record. This place was not originally intended as a living residence, it was a studio production facility for music and film. Because Prince would work many late nights, he did keep a space as his living quarters. He had other houses, but in the last years, he took up full time residency at Paisley.

Notice the neon sign of the moon in he window? That was from his movie, Graffiti Bridge. A lot of his “decor” items are prop items repurposed from his film projects or they were originally used as promotional materials.

Many fans have wondered if Prince knew how to read sheet music. Although he did not write his music in the traditional sheet music form, you can tell he understood music theory by the look of his notes..

Paisley Park was had a sound stage and lounge area where he held listening parties and dance parties for the Minneapolis area locals You will notice the door is painted with a version of the artwork from When Dove Cry music video. .

The artwork from the back wall is from the album artwork for The Rainbow Children.

The oat check counter for guests. Notice on the right side, that is the motorcycle from Graffiti Bridge.

This is in one of his many offices.  On the wall are outfits he wore for performances or photo shoots.

This is the desk where the pamphlets for rehab were found.

This is another one of his offices. This room has words like “dream” and “inspire” painted on the walls.  Notice on the wall, artwork from the Planet Earth album.

Many people don’t realize, but sometimes P would use a cane for back and hip support. Notice on the floor, a shopping bag from Electric Fetus, a local record shop that P frequented.

This is another of his offices. I love this one, he had purple velvet chairs and gold foil wallpaper.

Paisley Park had two kitchens, one for everyday use and other more commercial-style kitchen. This is the counter from the “small kitchen”. You can see that he had via seeds and green tea in his stash. He took a lot of vitamin snd nutritional supplements to stay healthy on the road. P is mostly a healthy eater, but he does have his indulgences…

Many people think that Prince was a vegan. He did try being vegan at one point, but he was vegetarian. He loved his eggs. And here you see 8 pints of Haagen-Dazs ice cream in chocolate and strawberry.

This is the fridge from the “big kitchen”.

P had candes in just about every room of the house. This is his stash.

    The “big kitchen”.

Hiere we found his secret stash on Snickers bars found in one of his bedroom mini fridges. He once told Scary Spice in an interview that Snickers bars were traded like currency in the school yard when he was a kid. He played in a band and got paid in candy.

Most people might imagine that P had an expansive closet, but he mostly kept his clothes on rolling racks in the laundry room with his suitcases. It was so he could be ready to pack up and go any time.

This is where he kept of his jewellery and accessories. There’s a DVD rack as well so that he could pack some movies for the road.

Here is P’s dressing table. You can see his famous 3rd eye sunglasses, some B-12 supplements, and his make up. He mostly wore a lot of MAC cosmetics.

Here was some signage that he used on tour for his dressing room. It says on this one, “Welcome 2 Canada”.

If want to know what was inside’s P’s mind, you have to know what his influences were. I have a post on Prince’s DVD collection and his book collection if you are interested knowing. I hope you enjoyed this mini tour of Paisley Park. I wanted to show you something different from what being shown in the mainstream media.

I thought I’d leave you with a pic of my artwork that is available for sale. I framed a vintage vinyl release of Nothing Compares 2 U over one of my photography prints. The vinyl never came with cover artwork. You can see on the label that it is the original Paisley Park label design. Even though they are re-releasing Prince’s records on vinyl, I think it’s nice town the original stuff.

  • CALLING THE SPIRIT WORLD – HOW I DO EVP – MY TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT

Looking through photos from police investigations at Paisley Park, I finally got confirmation of something I knew all along. Prince was a Coast to Coast AM listener, a late night paranormal talk show that I started listening to as a teenager. A copy of The Quickening by Art Bell, the creator and long time broadcaster of this show. I spent many late nights listening to stories about alien contact, ghosts and time travel. I can only imagine, we might have both been listening to the show at the same time… talk about a Sleepless in Seattle moment! Art Bell was where I first learned about EVP.

With all that in consideration, of course P knew about EVP. That is why he made attempts to be recorded from the start. Upon reviewing video footage of myself from two weeks after his passing, he was already attempting communication by EVP. I posted about it here.

EVP is what’s known as Electronic Voice Phenomenon. It is when voices from the other side can be recorded through electronic means. Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I would be doing my own recordings.

I started doing them and got results right away. However, I could only hear him faintly and couldn’t make out what he was saying. I was recording them on my iPad. The first time I got something that I could make out, I was so excited and amazed. I did it rather casually and wasn’t expecting results.

Me with Beats EP headphones ©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

I continued to try more of them, but I couldn’t make out what he was saying. So I gave up for a while. At a later point, I decided that I would commit to making EVP work for me. I wanted to hear his voice speaking to me physically. I had telepathic communication with him, but sometimes it gets to be too much. It’s confusing to have more than one voice in your head! So I bought two things. A pair of Beats EP headphones, and the EVP Wrist Recorder 3. Both items have resonating frequencies starting at 20 hz, which is important to note, as not all recording and listening equipment is created equally. By using equipment with the lowest possible frequency resonance, you increase our chances of capturing and hearing EVP. I found out later on in older recordings that Prince would even say things like “You’re not going to hear this until the future when you get better headphones!” And of course, P would know, he was a recording genius!

My EVP Wrist Recorder 3 ©2018 by Andrea Mai. All rights reserved.

It was only later when I decided to try harder to make this EVP thing work, that I would export the files onto my computer to listen to them on an editing program. I used iMovie on on my Macbook, because I was familiar with the software. I would listen through a recording and when I thought there might be something, I would keep playing that section over and over. I would use the Amplify setting to raise the volume to as high as 400%. I also found that the Voice Enhance or Treble Reduce Equalizer settings could also enhance the sound quality. I also recently started using the Noise Reduction between 20 to 45% depending on the quality, to help filter out background noises, which can make a big difference. I used the space bar on my keyboard to start and stop recordings. I would split the clips if I found something. Then cut and paste the clip ten times to listen to it on loop. Then I’d export the file as an mp3.

Throughout this process, I started to hear him more and more. I developed the ear for it. Spirits have a speech pattern that is different from a living person’s. They affect sound with their thoughts, and they can end up talking too fast. Prince has learned to slow down his speech when talking to me live in real-time.

When you are doing EVP, there are times when it sounds like the person when they were incarnate, but often times, it doesn’t sound like them exactly. But they will have a specific overall speech pattern that becomes recognizable with experience. In general, a spirit’s speech pattern can sound very sing-songy, as if they are singing their words to you.

The one thing that I discovered that made all the difference was that white noise or subtle background noise is what makes an EVP recording more audible. Complete silence makes it very faint and difficult to hear. I believe that it is their thought waves that are affecting the sounds nearby so that their voices can be amplified. I found that you do not need to be addressing a spirit to capture them. It seems to be like a natural law that their thoughts will affect sound. As a result, I have captured EVP of unsuspecting spirits having conversations with each other. Spirits can also read your thoughts, so you don’t actually have to speak out loud to them unless you wish to.

I have used household electronics to generate white noise in my recordings. I have also used Prince’s music as background noise. TV can also work as well. The key to to find that balance of volume. Too much and you won’t hear them at all.

A word of caution though, I started doing EVP because I knew Prince was there in spirit with me. I did not seek him out. He was already around. This is just a way for us to better communicate. I do not recommend anyone trying to summon a spirit by calling out to anyone. Summoning is a dangerous practice, as you are dealing wit the unseen world. Some spirits are out to play tricks on undiscerning people. There are spirits all around, including in the houses of unsuspecting people, so if you never cleanse your house, they could be there and you may be shocked at what you hear. This has nothing to do with whether or not you are a good person or if you are of good intention. This has to do with your unawareness of their presence, and you never asked them to leave. I emphasize prayer to God for protection in all pursuits of spirit communication.

It has been an experimental process. Anyone who wishes to do this, I would encourage to keep trying. It is not something that will happen right away, but something that you have to develop with practice. It is like learning a new language, so be patient with it. Over time, I became clairaudient with P. I never thought that such a thing could happen, but it is a wish come true. I can turn on some white noise and hear him speaking to me live. I have a recording of white noise on my iPod that I can listen to with earphones and hear him anywhere I go. It’s been an eyeopening experience and I’ve learned a lot about the spirit world as a result.

  • WHAT BOOKS WERE IN PRINCE’S LIBRARY AT PAISLEY PARK

In a previous post, I listed the movie titles from Prince’s DVD collection. I have compiled a list of books that were found at Paisley Park.

Since his passing I’ve wanted to know what books he read. To know his mind, how he formed his opinions, one should refer to the original source material, such as what books he read. I knew that he read some of David Icke’s books, but I was curious to know more. Seeing that it had a copy of Art Bell’s book, it confirmed to me that he was a Coast To Coast AM listener, a late night radio show about the paranormal. Authors like David Icke and Stephen Quayle were often guests on the show.

People often say things like Prince “knew so much”. That is because he spent the time to learn about obscure topics and developed his own view of the world using critical thinking skills. He took responsibility for his own knowledge and understanding. He only had a high school diploma, but he was a life long student.

You can tell a lot by what a person spends their time reading or watching. You can tell by the titles that Prince’s taste in books were of the spiritual and political kind. He was a life long learner, looking for the truth. The copy of Rilke’s poetry was found in his bedside table underneath a notepad.

Aside from these books, copies of the New World Translation Bible, and the English Dictionary and Thesaurus were found in different areas around Paisley Park. P was very interested in the origin of words and their meaning. He would often spend time examining the lexicon of words. Some of these books were found on in his office underneath a shelf covered with photos family photos. His original copy of 21 Nights was among the books.
