{"id":6739,"date":"2018-05-23T09:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/?p=6739"},"modified":"2026-02-08T23:51:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T04:51:56","slug":"paisley-park-what-the-press-didnt-show-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.andreamaicreative.com\/archive\/paisley-park-what-the-press-didnt-show-you\/","title":{"rendered":"A SIDE OF PRINCE YOU NEVER SAW &#8211; PAISLEY PARK PHOTOS &#8211; WHAT THE PRESS DIDN&#8217;T SHOW YOU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The press went crazy last month when photos from the investigation at Paisley Park were released. They were quick to show photos from his infamous vault, photos of his pills, and even photos of his dead body. The media is interested in eyeballs on screens and so they take every sensational angle they can on a story, even if it&#8217;s throwing mud on a person&#8217;s legacy. What ever happened to respect, and dignity? What about trying to understand who someone is? Why was Prince so special? What was it about him and the way that he lived? &nbsp;Doesn&#8217;t anyone want to know? Instead they want to know how he died and turn it into something scandalous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite his vast fan base, as a person, Prince was poorly understood by most. He was highly intelligent, but sometimes he couldn&#8217;t express himself clearly to people around him, because whatever he had to say, it was too far reaching&nbsp;for most people to understand. Despite the glamour and&nbsp;magic he created, his life in his last years were lived relatively modest from what one would expect. He focused mostly on his work. The photos from the police files reveal the most human side of Prince that you will ever see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0079-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6699\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThis is what you would have seen when you walk in through the front door. You can see on the two side walls beside the door, enlarged images of his iconic guitars. Inscribed on the wall are lyrics from the song, <em>U Make My Sun Shine<\/em>. At the front door, his parked his bike. Notice the ceiling of the sitting area, it is painted like a piano keyboard and night sky. It&#8217;s one of my favourite parts of the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0234-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6711\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThis is one of his many studio areas. Notice the photo of his father on the shelf. There is a framed copy of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2wblAuX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Musicology<\/em><\/a> on the other side of the shelf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0162-1-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6758\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nMany people don&#8217;t realize that he also rented out his studio for other artists&nbsp;to record.This place was not originally intended as a living residence, it was a studio production facility for music and film. Because Prince would work many late nights, he did keep a space as his living quarters. He had other houses, but in the last years, he took up full time residency at Paisley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0422-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6760\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0426-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6761\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\n<br>\nNotice the neon sign of the moon in he window? That was from his movie, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2rnWtz4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Graffiti Bridge<\/em><\/a>. Although he did not write his music in the traditional sheet music form, you can tell he understood music theory by the look of his notes..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0302-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6720\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nPaisley Park was had a sound stage and lounge area where he held listening parties and dance parties for the Minneapolis area locals You will notice the door is painted with a version of the artwork from <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2IiP6Ut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>When Dove Cry<\/em><\/a> music video. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0318-1-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6762\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThe artwork from the back wall is from the album artwork for <em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2rkP1FX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Rainbow Children<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0259-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6716\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThe oat check counter for guests. Notice on the floor, a shopping bag from Electric Fetus, a local record shop that P frequented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0380-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6725\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThis is another of his offices. I love this one, he had purple velvet chairs and gold foil wallpaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0394-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6726\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0426-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6728\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\n<br>\nPaisley Park had two kitchens, one for everyday use and other more commercial-style kitchen. This is the counter from the &#8220;small kitchen&#8221;. You can see that he had via seeds and green tea in his stash. He took a lot of vitamin snd nutritional supplements to stay healthy on the road. P is mostly a healthy eater, but he does have his indulgences&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0425-678x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6727\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nMany people think that Prince was a vegan. He did try being vegan&nbsp;at one point, but he was vegetarian. He loved his eggs. And here you see 8 pints of Haagen-Dazs ice cream in chocolate and strawberry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0291-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6719\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThis is the fridge from the &#8220;big kitchen&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0289-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6718\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nP had candes in just about every room of the house. This is his stash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0283-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6717\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThe &#8220;big kitchen&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0184-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6704\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nHiere we found his secret stash on Snickers bars found in one of his bedroom mini fridges. He once told Scary Spice in an interview that Snickers bars were traded like currency in the school yard when he was a kid. He played in a band and got paid in candy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0359-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6724\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nMost people might imagine that P had an expansive closet, but he mostly kept his clothes on rolling racks in the laundry room with his suitcases. It was so he could be ready to pack up and go any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0049-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6698\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThis is where he kept of his jewellery and accessories. There&#8217;s a DVD rack as well so that he could pack some movies for the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0217-2-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6709\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0347-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6723\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\n<br>\nHere is P&#8217;s dressing table. You can see his famous 3rd eye sunglasses, some B-12 supplements, and his make up. He mostly wore a lot of MAC cosmetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Prince_PaisleyPark-0173-2-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6702\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nHere was some signage that he used on tour for his dressing room. It says on this one, &#8220;Welcome 2 Canada&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If want to know what was inside&#8217;s P&#8217;s mind, you have to know what his influences were. I have a post on Prince&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/what-was-in-princes-dvd-collection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DVD collection<\/a> and his <a href=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/what-books-were-in-princes-library-at-paisley-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">book collection<\/a> if you are interested knowing. I hope you enjoyed this mini&nbsp;tour of Paisley Park. I wanted to show you something different from what being shown in the mainstream media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought I&#8217;d leave you with a pic of my <a href=\"http:\/\/andreamaicreative.com\/product\/nothing-compares-2-u\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">artwork<\/a> that is available for sale. I framed a vintage vinyl release of <em>Nothing Compares 2 U <\/em>over one of my photography prints. The vinyl never came with cover artwork. You can see on the label that it is the original Paisley Park label design.
