You see the passion in their eyes, the hours they have poured into their craft, the sacrifices they have made, the hope that keeps them going even when everything seems to be falling apart. And then, slowly, you watch them give up. Not because they lack talent. Not because they lack drive. Not even because the world is against them. But because somewhere along the way, they forgot what the dream was actually for.

I have seen this pattern more times than I can count. Creatives who are brilliant at what they do, yet somehow cannot seem to turn their passion into something sustainable. Filmmakers with extraordinary vision who cannot get their projects funded. Writers with powerful voices who cannot find their audience. Artists with undeniable skill who cannot seem to sell a single piece. And the tragedy is not that they are failing. The tragedy is that they believe failure means they are not enough. They believe their dream is proof of their worth, and when it does not manifest the way they expected, they take it as a personal indictment.

The problem is a fundamental misunderstanding of what a dream actually is. Most people believe that the dream is the point. The goal. The finish line. They believe that if they can just achieve it, if they can just get the funding, land the deal, sell the work, reach the milestone, then everything will be okay. Then they will be okay. But this is where the trap is set. Because when the dream becomes the destination, everything else becomes an obstacle. The people who do not support you become enemies. The circumstances that do not align become proof of conspiracy. The setbacks become evidence that you are cursed. And slowly, the dream that was supposed to liberate you becomes the very thing that imprisons you.

The truth is far more radical and far more liberating. The dream is not the destination. The dream is the vehicle. It is the container for your growth, the structure that forces you to evolve, the lens through which you are asked to confront everything that is not yet healed within you. The film you are trying to make is not the point. The point is who you become in the process of making it. The business you are building is not the point. The point is the parts of yourself you are forced to develop in order to build it. The creative project that seems to be fighting you at every turn is not the point. The point is what it is asking you to face about your relationship to worth, to visibility, to money, to collaboration, to rejection, and to yourself.

This is why so many people give up on their dreams. They hit a wall, and instead of seeing the wall as a lesson, they see it as a sign. They interpret the struggle as evidence that they were never meant to succeed, rather than evidence that there is something they are being asked to learn. They look outward for the cause of their failure—the industry, the economy, the lack of funding, the wrong people, the bad luck—when the real cause is almost always internal. And that is a much harder thing to face. It is much easier to believe you are cursed than to believe you are standing in your own way. It is much easier to blame external forces than to look in the mirror and ask yourself the hard questions.

The astrology shows this so clearly. The chart reveals the patterns, the blind spots, the relationships you are avoiding, the skills you are refusing to learn, the attitudes you are clinging to that are repelling the very people who could help you. But the chart cannot make you see it. It can only reflect it back to you. The work of seeing, of owning, of choosing differently—that work belongs to you. And this is where the dream becomes a gift rather than a curse. The dream is the mirror. The obstacles are the teachers. The failures are the curriculum.

When you understand that the dream is not the point, everything shifts. The setbacks stop being evidence of your inadequacy and start being information about where you need to grow. The rejections stop being personal and start being redirections. The delays stop being punishments and start being opportunities to refine your vision and yourself. You stop waiting for the perfect conditions and start working with what you have. You stop looking for a savior and start becoming your own. You stop treating people as resources and start treating them as collaborators. You stop asking why the universe is against you and start asking what the universe is trying to teach you.

The creatives who succeed are not the ones with the most talent. They are not the ones with the most luck. They are not even the ones with the most funding. They are the ones who understand that the dream is not something you achieve. It is something you become. It is a process of transformation disguised as a goal. And when you finally reach the destination, you realize that who you have become along the way is far more valuable than anything you could have produced. The art, the project, the business—these are just artifacts of the journey. The real product is you.

If you have been struggling to make your creative work sustainable, I want to offer you a different perspective. Your dream is not failing you. It is asking you to grow. The obstacles are not signs that you should give up. They are signs that there is work to be done. And the work is not about finding the right funding, the right people, or the right opportunity. The work is about becoming someone who is ready to receive all of those things when they arrive. Because they will arrive. But only when you are ready. And being ready means being willing to look at yourself, own your patterns, heal your relationships, learn the skills, and stop being the victim of your own story.

The dream is the vehicle. You are the destination. And the journey is the point.

If You Are Reading This…

Then chances are that you might be struggling to turn your dream into reality. Let me tell you, you might be steps away, missing a couple strokes.
